05/14/17 13:00 Basic information Meco owners believes him be 16 years old. Owner states he adopted Meco from ACC 12 years ago for his daughter. Meco appears healthy and doesn’t have any health concerns at this time. Owner surrenders Meco due to no time. Personality Meco lived with two adults and been around children all ages. Owner stated Meco likes to walk around the house when visitors come and make himself friendly. Owner stated Meco is tolerant around children but don’t play with. Meco never been around another cat but lived with a Shih Tzu and he loved to play with the dog. Meco activity level is low and he’s mostly indoors/ outdoors when he wants fresh air. Owner stated Meco is mellow and affectionate. Behavior Meco has never bitten or scratched another animal or person in his life owner stated. Lately he’s been having litter box issues for the past two months. He will defecate outside the litter box and never been to the vet for this issue. He’s struggles to take baths and get nails trim but isn’t bothered after a while. He enjoys being picked up and held. New family to know: Meco is mostly litter box trained. He will use the bathroom outdoors, in a uncovered litter box or on the floor. He isn’t interested in toys and rather spend his time lounging on the couch or under the table which is his favorite spot. He eats dry food called meow mix that’s left out all day. Owner believes Meco will do best in any home. Behavior during intake: Upon intake Meco was calm and relaxed. He went in and out of his carrier without struggle. He scanned negative for a microchio and allowed all handling.

Behavior toward strangers: friendly Behavior toward children: tolerant Behavior toward dogs: loved to play Bite or Scratch history: none Litter box training: yes ENRICHMENT NOTES: 5/14/17- Resting in litter box, soft eyes and body. Meowed whenever spoken to. Doesn’t seem to be shy, but uncomfortable with touch. Meowed or whined with every pet, though didn’t move away. Calmed immediately when petting stopped. 5/15/17- Resting in litter box, soft eyes and body. Meowed when spoken to, then stood and came forward. Lifted rear for butt scratches, leaned into pets, and purred. Ate treats from my hand, then wandered off to explore rest of cage. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Meco looks neutral, lying down on his cage bedding when approached by the assessor. Reaction to cage door opening: Meco remains immobile, alert with normal shape eyes. Reaction to touch: Spike leans into the assessor’s hand, purrs and meowing attention. Reaction to Being Picked up: He becomes antsy then jumps back into the cage. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Meco interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
