I am a spayed female calico and brn tabby domestic sh mix. The shelter thinks I am about 4 YEARS old.
I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 06/22/2017 from NY 10032, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.

06/22/17 11:44 Basic: Maya is a 4 year old spayed DSH. She has not had any injuries or illnesses and was last seen by a vet in August 2016 for vaccines. Socialization: Maya is reportedly friendly and allows all handling, including being picked up and held. When she does not want to be handled she will hiss to let you know. Maya has lived with another cat, a neutered male and with this cat she was respectful. She does not have a bite history. Behavior: Maya has never had a litterbox accident and eats primarily dry food. She lived in a home with many people and isnt bothered by loud noises or strangers. She uses an uncovered litterbox with clumping litter. She plays with soft toys and scratches on the furniture. During intake Maya was nervous with dilated pupils. She allowed handling and collaring but wanted to return to her carrier. She was vocal during intake but did not hiss or growl.

ACTIVITY LEVEL: Steady VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Skittish KNOWN HISTORY: Lived Indoors Previously lived with: an adult and a cat Behavior toward strangers: friendly Behavior toward cats: respectful Bite or Scratch history: none Litter box training: yes MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 6/22/17- fractious EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Maya remains crouched position, hiding in the cat den during the approach. Reaction to cage door opening: Maya remains in place, alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Maya accepts a brief touch, but becomes agitated and hissed while distance increases. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Maya may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home.
