You would think a trip to a vet would have been the place this owner would take his cat. May is only 3 years old and deserves to be seen by a competent vet. Please help her.

BCS 3/9 EENT: Eyes clear, no ocular or nasal discharge, ears wnl, teeth clean, pale pink mm, tongue protruding slightly from mouth, ulcerations along tongue margin HL: Normal RR/RE A: Owner reports cat stopped eating and became lethargic on 7/24 — NSF on blood work or radiographs; dehydration, lingual ulcers, lethargy, anorexia – R/O viral vs exposure to caustic substance vs other P: Continue with LRS, antibiotics and pain control, gave cerenia 0.22ml Sq and sucralfate slurry for ulcers Continue to monitor while at BACC. Fair prognosis, depending on response to supportive care

07/26/17 15:16 May is a 3 year old unaltered female DSH mix; she came to her home as a kitten from a friend and is being surrendered due to her owners unable to afford the cost of care. May does have health issues she is underweight and seems to have low energy but she has not been to the vet. Around strangers May is friendly and playful. She has never lived with children, but has lived with 2 other female cats in the home. Around the other cats May is calm and relaxed about mostly keeps to herself, she has no bite history. May isn’t bothered when someone gives her a bath. May enjoys being picked up or held, and she will struggle to be placed in a carrier. May was described as friendly, Affectionate, and mellow with a medium activity level. May likes to follow her family around the home. She is feed wet and dry food of the meow mix brand 3 times day. May is litter boxed trained and uses a hooded box with clumping litter. May has a scratching post that is vertical and made of cardboard

KNOWN HISTORY: Lived Indoors Previously lived with: Adults and other cats. Behavior toward strangers: Around strangers May is friendly and playful. Behavior toward cats: May is calm and relaxed around other cats and mostly keeps to herself. Bite or Scratch history: No. Litter box training: May is litter boxed trained and uses a hooded box with clumping litter. Energy level/descriptors: May was described as friendly, Affectionate, and mellow with a medium activity level. Other notes: May isn’t bothered when someone gives her a bath. May enjoys being picked up or held, and she will struggle to be placed in a carrier. May likes to follow her family around the home. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: very dehydrated, very quiet. will react but does not move much. tongue protruding at rest. ENRICHMENT NOTES: Sitting crouched in center of kennel, head lowered onto kennel floor. Tolerates petting along her head and body while lifting her head slowly and making eyes contact. Lethargic. Labored breathing. Not doing too good. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: May is sitting crouched in her litterbox as the assessor approaches, head facing floor and ears forward. Reaction when softly spoken to: May does not react when spoken to. Reaction to cage door opening: May lifts her head slowly and makes eye contact with the assessor as the cage door opens. Reaction to touch: May tolerates petting along her head and body while maintaining eye contact with the assessor, ears forward and head raised with body remaining crouched and still. Breathing is labored. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Un-assessable VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Independent POTENTIAL CHALLENGES: Medical Conditions Please note that this cat is being treated for a medical condition at the time of evaluation. It is difficult to determine at this time how the medical condition may be affecting the behavior. RECOMMENDATIONS: – Experienced cat parent May tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter.
