***SAFE 05/27/16*** DECLAWED KITTY MAX is a handsome ginger cat with big eyes and a great personality! This 9 year old guy has had the same home since he was a kitten, but his owner brought him to the shelter because the owner had allergies and personal problems. So marvelous MAX is on tomorrow’s death row list at the shelter unless he is saved by a caring kitty angel! MAX is described by his precious owner as friendly, affectionate, independent, and low-medium energy. He would do great in a home with experienced pet parents and no children. MAX is DECLAWED and is respectful of other cats. This amazingly handsome and sweet orange guy would make a wonderful pet! Please foster or adopt MAX today!!!

05/16/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
05/16/16 08:29 BASIC INFO Max is a 9 year old neutered DSH cat. He is declawed. He was adopted from another shelter when he was a kitten. His owner surrendered him due to allergies and personal issues. Max becomes constipated once every few months. He runs around until he’s able to use his litterbox. SOCIALIZATION Max approaches new people and allows them to pet him on his head. He watches children and allows gentle petting but swats them if they pet him too roughly. He plays exuberantly with people. He met cats and dogs in the hallway and was relaxed and respectful of them; he seemed comfortable around them but didn’t directly interact with them. Max has never bit or scratched any one. BEHAVIOR Max meows a little in the car. He is nervous when washed with a wet wash cloth. He doesn’t mind when someone brushes him, picks up and holds him, puts him in a carrier, or wakes him up. FOR A NEW FAMILY TO KNOW Max’s family describes him as friendly, affectionate, independent, and low-medium energy. He sometimes follows his owner around. He likes to catch bugs. He lived inside and also explored the balcony and hallway. He slept next to his owner, on a chair, or in a box. He ate dry and wet (shredded) Wellness grain free cat food. He’s littertrained, used an uncovered litterbox with high sides with clay litter, and doesn’t have accidents. INTAKE Max was tolerant while staff removed his collar and put a new collar on him.
05/19/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Max’s former owner stated he approaches new people and allows them to pet him on his head. He watches children and allows gentle petting but swats them if they pet him too roughly. He plays exuberantly with people. He met cats and dogs in the hallway and was relaxed and respectful of them; he seemed comfortable around them but didn’t directly interact with them. Max’s family describes him as friendly, affectionate, independent, and low-medium energy. He likes to catch bugs. Please take note: Max is declawed. Reaction to assessor: Max looks neutral, sitting upright by the front when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Max remains in place, relaxed body posture, alert with soft eyes. Reaction to touch: Max leans into the assessor’s hand, but attempts to explore outside of the cage and began to grumble when stopped or pickup to place back. He then swats (no claws) for you to stop the interaction. Placement determination: Experience / no child Max tolerates attention and petting but may be stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
