MAX – A0815976
Gone - 8-24-2016 Brooklyn
**GONE 08/24/16** Confusion reigns supreme at the ACC as a general fact, and for a specific look at how that influences things, check out poor MAX. This is a neutered 7-year-old chap with an EXPERIENCE rating, originally adopted from the ACC a while back. He’s been with those folks all that time, and since they’ve decided they want to live a catless existence in some new hut somewhere, they’ve handed MAX back to the ACC. Here’s where the CONFUSION kicks in: See how it says “16 pounds” for his weight, right there in his biography? And farther down, the shelter refers to him being “overweight?” That’s all fine and dandy, but the very same shelter ALSO sent out a plea on this cat, trying to entice New Hope rescues to pull him before he hit the kill list…..and THAT email claimed MAX weighed a mere 3 pounds. So, which is it? Three pounds, or 16? That kind of discrepancy is NOTHING NEW for the ACC, and it’s one reason so many animals get killed there; people don’t trust the shelter. Please look BEYOND the shelter’s craptastic reputation, and look into the searching, loving, intelligent eyes of MAX. No matter how much he weighs, the light will be snuffed OUT of those eyes tomorrow, by the SAME PERSON WHO DOESN’T KNOW HOW TO USE A SCALE, unless a FOSTER or ADOPTER steps up for him tonight!

08/16/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owner, Around strangers Max is shy for a few minutes but then friendly and outgoing. He lived with a 9 year old. Max was relaxed and affectionate around the child. With both adults and children he is gentle. There is no known history of him being around other cats. He lived with a small Maltese and was tolerant. Reaction to assessor: Max does not come to front but remains neutral When spoken quietly: Max does not come to front but remains neutral Reaction to door cage opening: Max started to shift around Reaction to touch: Max allowed petting with a slow and gentle approach Try picking cat up: Max is tolerant of this type of handling but tense. Behavior Determination: Experience Max was brought to the care center as a stray so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies previous to what we seeing during the evaluation. At the time of the assessment he was displaying fearful behavior; does not seek attention from the assessor and becomes uncomfortable when the kennel was open. Remains motionless as I started to get closer but after a steady slow approach using soft voices he relaxed a little. I was able to pet max and interact with him in a limited way. I was also able to pick him up and although he was tense no fractious behavior was display. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
