Brief minor grumbling, then ate a few treats and lay down again, posture noticeably softer. 12/27/17 Curled up on kuranda bed, tense, eyes dilated. Lay in place when door opened. Briefly lifted paw as if to swat, then leaned into head pets. Grumbled once when touched along body, then allowed further pets. 12/28/17 Dozing on kuranda bed, woke and became alert when door opened, eyes dilated. Lay in place, leaned into pets, started to doze off again. Ate treats after door closed.
Cage Condition:: No change
Reaction to assessor:: Maurice remains neutral, crouched position with head up on her cage bedding.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Maurice shows interest with eyes wide open.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Maurice remains immobile in place.
Reaction to touch:: Maurice accepts the touch and slowly leans into the petting. After a few strokes, she becomes agitated then low grumbles and hisses to stop the interaction.
ACTIVITY LEVEL:: Mellow
VOCAL:: Quiet
CHARACTER TYPE: : Curious,Timid,Independent
BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: : Experienced, adult only
Behavior Asilomar: TM – Treatable-Manageable
BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Maurice may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home who understands this cat may need time to warm up to her new home and family at her own pace.
