MAUI – A1066907
Safe - 3-18-2016 Manhattan
**SAFE 03/18/16** MAUI IS ONLY A 5 MONTH OLD KITTEN WHO CAME IN THE SHELTER FROM A HOARDING SITUATION. HE IS PERFECTLY HEALTHY BUT FRIGHTENED, SO FOR THAT REASON – THE ACC WILL MAKE HIM DIE! MAUI came in with a large group of cats – three were on last night’s euth list and status is still unknown. There are 4 more who have not made an appearance on the nightly list. MAUI is a 5 month old kitten who sadly is afraid after losing his home, and being separated from his buddies. He was said to tolerate petting and attention but needs an experienced cat person to help him adjust. So guessing that nobody at the ACC knows how to help socialize a kitten so he can go to adoptions, they just toss him onto the nightly list because they just cannot be bothered. MAUI did nothing wrong to deserve this and he is not even sick. He did allow some handling and petting which tells you he is just timid and needs a real cat purrson to help him come out of his shell. CAN YOU BE THE HERO IN THIS SAD STORY? WE WOULD LIKE TO SEE POOR MAUI IN A LOVING HOME AND NOT A FREEZER BAG! PLEASE OFFER TO FOSTER OR ADOPT THIS KITTEN AND WE BET IN NO TIME YOU WILL HAVE A LITTLE PURR-BUG ON YOUR HANDS! REMEMBER HE DID COME FROM A HOME SITUATION AND IS NOT FROM THE STREET. GIVE MAUI A CHANCE NOW!!

Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Maui looks tense in the cage when approached by the assessor. Reaction to door opening: Maui remains hiding at the back of the cage, alert with eyes wandering. Reaction to touch: Maui accepts the stroke, but began to yowl during the touch while his body stiffens up in place. Placement determination: Experience / no child Maui tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
