06/19/17 10:28 Basic Information: Matros is a 6 year old neutered male DSH that has no previous or current medical issues that the owner is aware of. Owner has had Matros for 6 years but had to surrender due to allergies in the home. Socialization: According to the owner, around strangers Matros is shy for a few minutes at first but once comfortable, he is friendly and outgoing. He has been around a 7 week old child and was always relaxed and respectful around the child. Owner had another cat in the home that was his sister and stated that Matros and Chica would always play together, eat together and sleep together. Owner did not have a dog in the home so behavior is unknown. Matros does not have a bite history. Behavior: Matro does not like being given a bath and will try to flee. Owner was able to brush his coat without any issues, picks him up and holds her or disturbs him while he is sleeping. Owner has never tried to trim his nails so behavior is unknown. For a New Family to Know: Matros is described as friendly, affectionate, playful and quiet.He has a high activity level and likes to play with all types of toys. Owner stated that Matros would only play with the owner for a few minutes but would always play with his sister and they would chase toys around the house. Matros was kept indoors only and is litter box trained. In the home, he used a hooded litter box with clumping litter. Owner had a cat tree in the home that was made of carpet and rough rope and stated that Matros would use it frequently. In the home, owner fed Matros both wet and dry food brands Weruba and Purina.

KNOWN HISTORY: Lived Indoors Previously lived with: Adults and 7 week old child Behavior toward strangers: Shy at first but becomes friendly and outgoing when he feels comfortable Behavior toward children: Relaxed and respectful Behavior toward cats: Lived with another cat and was relaxed with her. They ate, played and slept together. Behavior toward dogs: Unknown Bite or Scratch history: None Litter box training: Yes Energy level/descriptors: Friendly affectionate and playful with a high activity level Other notes: He doesn’t mind having his coat brushed, being picked up or placed in a carrier. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Tries to get away, vocalizing ENRICHMENT NOTES: 06/22/17 Lying in back of kennel, body tense and eyes wide. He avoids eye contact when spoken to and looks around the room. Tolerates petting along his head and body while backing away and wrapping his tail around himself. Needs more time to adjust. Sprayed feliway. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Matros was crouched at the back of the kennel with wide eyes focused on the assessor. Reaction when softly spoken to: Matros inches back, lip licks and doesn’t get up or come forward when coaxed. Reaction to cage door opening: Matros remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Matros lip licks and his eyes dart around when the assessor extended his hand out. He flinched and closed his eyes when touched but slowly warmed up over time. After a few minutes of attention he leaned in for rubs, inched forward, head butted and nudged my hand for attention ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Shy RECOMMENDATIONS: Experienced cat parent – Matros may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
