MATHIAS – A1074010
Gone - 5-21-2016 Manhattan
**GONE 05/21/16** WOUNDED, THEN TRAPPED! Poor MATHIAS has really been through the wringer lately, as is evidenced in his ACC notes. This handsome fellow with the honest face had been eating in someone’s yard with a group of cats. One day, the people with the food noticed he had a wound on his chest, so they trapped Mathias and delivered him to the ACC. They probably figured, “there’s vets in that building, and vets cure cats, and then the shelter will find him a home.” Well, that’s NOT how it works at the ACC, where the vets are specialized killers and homes are definitely NOT guaranteed. Although New Hope placement had been suggested, probably so the shelter would be sure Mathias would get the appropriate medical care for his injury, they did list him on the Public list. That means he can be adopted outright by someone who has the means to carry on with his medical care, or he can be FOSTERED through a New Hope rescue. Either way, if YOU can be the lifesaver who takes Mathias home, please message the Urgent PODR Help Desk at [email protected] so our volunteers can assist with the process. Please advocate widely for Mathias, tonight!

05/17/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
05/17/16 11:20 Mathias A1074010 is a 2-3yr old male marbled brown tabby and white DSH that was found in the finder’s friend’s yard. They feed cats but don’t want them around the home/yard. They noticed Mathias had a large opened wound on his neck area and thought it best to catch him to bring him in. They lured him into a crate with wet cat food. During intake Mathias fled from the crate as soon as I opened the door. He seems fearful as he wanted to run and hide. Mathias allowed to be scanned (-), we can’t collar him due to the wound on his neck and a picture had to be taken in the kennel as he tends to flee.

05/20/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Mathias looks neutal, lying down on his cage bedding when approached. Reaction to door opening: Mathias slowly retreats to the back, tense body posture, alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to touch: Mathias accepts the stroke, but flinches during the touch with ears down to his side and remains wary with his surroundings. Placement determination: Experience / no child Mathias tolerates attention and petting but may be stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children. *** Please note that Mathias is being treated for a serious medical condition at the time of the evaluation, and is receiving pain medication. We cannot be certain how this is affecting his behavior. His behavior may change when his medical condition is addressed.
