10/29/16 15:56 Basic Information Mastic is an approximate 4 year old female domestic short hair who is being surrendered because owner was ordered to remove his 14 cats from his home by NYCHA. Mastic was born in owner’s home. Owner stated Mastic has a cold. Socialization Owner stated Mastic is friendly around strangers. She has never lived or spent time around kids. She plays in a gentle manner with adults. She lived with 14 others cats. She was affectionate and tolerant with the cats. She plays in a gentle manner with the cats. She has never lived or spent time with dogs or any other kinds of animal. She has never bitten a person or animal. Behavior Owner stated Mastic has no behavior issues and was relaxed during the car ride to our shelter. Owner has never bathed or trimmed her nails. She is not bothered if brushed, picked up, placed in a carrier, or if disturbed while sleeping. For a New Family to Know Mastic is described as friendly, affectionate, and mellow with a medium activity level. Owner stated when home his cats would do their own thing. They would only come to him when it was feeding time. She was kept indoors only and slept anywhere. She was fed Alley Cat and Nine Lives dry cat food. Owner stated he would fill a large bowl three times a day. She uses an uncovered cat litter box with crystal style litter in it. She scratched on a chair made out of fabric and wood. Behavior during Intake Mastic tolerated all handling. She was relaxed during her photo shoot. She did not display any signs of aggression.

She was affectionate and tolerant with the cats. She plays in a gentle manner with the cats. She has never lived or spent time with dogs or any other kinds of animal. She has never bitten a person or animal. Reaction to assessor: Mastic comes to the front of the cage – soliciting attention and rubbing against the cage front. Reaction when softly spoken to: Mastic stays at the front – continues to solicit attention, rubbing against the cage front, purring, and kneading in place. Reaction to cage door opening: Mastic remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Mastic solicits petting and attention – rubbing against the assessor’s hands, purring, and kneading in place. Reaction to being picked up: Mastic positions herself like a baby in the assessor’s arms, kneads the air, and continues to purr. Behavior Determination: Beginner Mastic interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. No known history of behavioral problems. This cat can go to a beginner home.
