Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owner, Masha has been around children. Around children Masha seeks to hide and shies away from children. Masha is also shy and fearful with strangers; she seeks to hide and takes days before she warms up to people. Masha has never been around dogs but she has lived with two other cats and is respectful and tolerant of other cats. Masha is mellow and solicit attention from the adults in the house. Our enrichment facilitator has interacted with Masha and at the time she wide eyes at the back of the cage. Masha is hesitant of contact. She sniffs hand and inches forward slowly. Reaction to assessor: Masha does not come to front but remains neutral When spoken quietly: Masha does not come to front but remains neutral Reaction to door cage opening: Masha remains motionless Reaction to touch: Masha seems indifferent to my presence and touch Try picking cat up: Masha is tolerant of this type of handling but very tense. Behavior Determination: Experience At the time of the assessment Masha was displaying fearful behavior; does not seek attention from the assessor and becomes alert when the kennel was open. Remains motionless as I started to get closer but after a steady slow approach using soft voices she relaxed a little. I was able to pet her and interact with her in a limited way. I was also able to pick her up and although she was tense no fractious behavior was display. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
