05/17/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Marcy was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. She was easy to handle upon intake and during her initial medical exam. Please note that this cat is being treated for a medical condition at the time of evaluation. It is difficult to determine at this time how the medical condition may be affecting the behavior. Reaction to Assessor: Marcy comes to the front, chirps, and rubs her cheeks on the cage door. Reaction when softly spoken to: Marcy chirps again and is calm, relaxed, and friendly. Reaction to cage door opening: Marcy retreats to the back and appears hesitant of interaction. Reaction to touch: Marcy lowers her body, but allows gentle petting on her head and body. She seems interested in the assessor and chirps as the assessor extends their hand, but backs away slightly each time the assessor reaches for her, unsure. Behavior Determination: Experience Marcy tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
