03/13/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: Marcy was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Observed Behavior – Calm EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: Marcy was lying down near the back of her kennel, calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Marcy makes eye contact and blinks softly. Reaction to cage door opening: Marcy begins to grumble. Reaction to touch: Marcy growls a bit louder and flinches slightly when touched. She hisses and whines during petting, but remains in place and tolerates it. Her ears tilt to the side and she appears uncomfortable. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Timid BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Please note that this cat is being treated for a medical condition at the time of evaluation. It is difficult to determine at this time how the medical condition may be affecting the behavior. RECOMMENDATIONS: – Experienced, adult home only – Marcy tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home who understands this cat may need time to warm up to her new home and family at her own pace.
