BROOKLYN CENTER
Hello, my name is Mango. My animal id is #9247. I am a desexed male white cat at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 12 years 3 weeks old. – P
I came into the shelter as a stray on 09-Oct-2017.
Mango is at risk for behavior concerns (Experience determination). Mango allows petting but shutters away and becomes very uncomfortable from loud noises in the care center.
Let’s get to know each other a bit more…
KNOWN HISTORY: Mango was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Very sweet. Easily handle able. Did well for all medical handling and procedures Cage Condition: Cage is slightly re-arranged Reaction to assessor: Mango was lying down near the back of the kennel in back of his litter box. Reaction when softly spoken to: Mango turns towards the assessor to make eye contact, his ears tilt forward but he doesn’t approach when coaxed. Reaction to cage door opening: Mango remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Mango lifts his head up, sniffs then gently leans in allowing petting and rubs on his cheeks. He shifts his body weight, nuzzles against the assessor’s hand and appreciates attention. He appreciates attention but keeps his tail tucked by his side and is wary of his surroundings. Whenever he heard or saw someone walked by he would flinch, then curl up and face the wall. Reaction to being picked up: Mango was a bit tense when picked up, but he remained calm and allowed all handling. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Sweet Timid POTENTIAL CHALLENGES: None BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: Experience Behavior Asilomar TM – Treatable-Manageable RECOMMENDATIONS: None BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Mango may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
