She has a heart murmur and a skin issue which needs a follow up vet check but is otherwise healthy. MAMA lived with adults and older kids. She was also curious and ok around a pit bull dog. She lived with another male kitty who she was very affectionate with. What more can you ask for in a cat? Please consider adopting this mature lady today!! MAMA MUST BE RESERVED BY NOON!!

Hello, my name is Mama. My animal id is #11114. I am a desexed female black cat at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 11 years 2 weeks old. – P
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 29-Oct-2017, with the surrender reason stated as person circumstance- moving – no pets allowed.
Mama is at risk due to being diagnosed with an Upper Respiratory Infection and will likely require home rest and a series of antibiotics for up to 14 days. This is a contagious illness to other cats.

Basic Information:: Mama is a black and white altered female domestic short hair. She was a gift from a friend and the family has had her since she was 2 months old. Mama has a possible autoimmune disease that causes a rash along her belly.
Previously lived with:: 2 teenagers, 3 adults
How is this cat around strangers?: Mama tends to be in the same room but keeps her distance from strangers.
How is this cat around children?: She has lived with teenagers before and is relaxed and respectful of them.
How is this cat around other cats?: She lives with a 5-6 year old male and is very affectionate and friendly with her. They sleep and play together.
How is this cat around dogs?: Mama has spent some time with a young pit bull and is very curious of him. She will go up to him and sniff him.
Behavior Notes: Owner states Mama has no behavioral issues. She has not ridden a car and her behavior is unknown.
Bite history:: Mama has not bitten a person or another animal.

Medical Notes: Mama has a possible autoimmune disease that caused a rash on her once.
For a New Family to Know: Mama is described as a friendly and independent cat. She loves to sleep most of the day and plays chase with the other cat. She does not have any cat toys and was kept indoors only. She loves to sleep in boxes and fed dry food only. She was given an open litter box with clumping clay.

MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: A little nervous but well behaved during PE
ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 10/30/17 Lying in back of kennel in a neutral body position, head raised and ears forward. She allows petting along her head and body while leaning in gently. Doing well after first day.
Cage Condition:: Cage is neat
Reaction to assessor:: Mama was relaxed and lying down at the back of the kennel.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Mama makes eye contact but doesn’t get up or come forward when coaxed.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Mama remains neutral.
Reaction to touch:: Mama lifts her head up and leans forward to sniff the assessor’s hand. She perks up when touched, chirps and brushes up against the assessor when pet along her back.
Reaction to being picked up:: Mama was a bit tense when picked up, but remains calm and allows all handling.
