SAFE 2/2/18 MALCOLM is a friendly stray who was brought to the shelter. He has a URI and is being treated with antibiotics. Malcolm also has an inflamed tongue and needs xrays to check for a small mass in his abdomen. Please give this friendly 3 yr old a chance to recover – fostering will get him the help and the rescue will pay the vet cost.

EENT: Ears clean, green mucoid nasal and ocular discharge noted
Oral Exam: Tongue inflammed/areas of necrosis – painful
PLN: No enlargements noted
H/L: NSR, NMA, Lungs clear, eupnic
ABD: Non painful, 4 cm diameter round mass palpated in the caudal abdomen
U/G: Intact male – two descended testicles
MSI: Paresis, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat
CNS: Lethargic, no signs of CNS defects
Rectal: NP
Assessment:
1) URI
2) Tongue injury/painful
Prognosis: Fair
Plan:
1) Gave 100 cc SQ fluid
2) Para-enteral Antibiotic (IV) b.c difficulty swallowing liquids
2) Start on 10ml/hr LRS for 24 hrs
3) Give 0.5 cc Cerenia SQ SID for 3 days
4) Apply Terramycine ointment in both eyes BID for 7 days
5) Give 0.6cc Simbadol SQ
6) Abdominal Radiographs V/D and Lateral
7) Give 0.5cc Onsior SQ for 3 days (tongue injury)
8) Give 0.25 CC Enrofloxacin IV (will not swallow so have to give AB’s IV)
6) Put in Med-Iso
