10/10/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Malawi was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. He allowed handling upon intake, but was tense during his initial medical exam. He allowed handling to be conducted when wrapped in a towel and was reported to be non-aggressive. Reaction to assessor: Malawi was sleeping upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Malawi doesn’t respond and continues to sleep. Reaction to cage door opening: Malawi wakes and blinks sleepily. Reaction to touch: Malawi was a bit hesitant, but allows petting and warms up. He leans in for more rubs, begins to purr, and rolls on his back. He shifts a little closer to interact with the assessor and seems to appreciate attention. Reaction to pick up: Malawi remains calm during pick up and nuzzles against the assessor when held. Behavior Determination: Average Malawi interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behaviors for cat parents with an average amount of experience.
