05/09/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
DETERIORATING BEHAVIOR 05/09/17: Madison is expressing no interest with human contact. She slowly sniffs the assessor’s hand and began to swat (no claws) and hisses to stop the interaction. Madison was social with humans at first, but appears to be deteriorating in the busy adoption area and is hissing and swatting at visitors after several days in the room. Due to her stress level, we feel that quick placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time. Behavior on 4/22/17: ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Somewhat chatty CHARACTER TYPE: Social, Sweet, Curious MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 4/19/17- Observed Behavior – allowed exam, growled after injections ENRICHMENT NOTES: 4/20/17- In litter box, eyes dilated. Easily lured to main compartment with treats. Tense, low posture, briefly rubbed against bars. Despite fearful appearance, actually very solicitous. Leaned and arched into pets, purred, rolled over. Stayed at front when door closed, continued rolling over and playing with mouse toy. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Madison looks soft and relaxed, lying down on her cage bedding. Reaction to cage door opening: Madison looks around, alert with normal shape eyes. Reaction to touch: Madison began to lean into the assessor’s hand and joyfully roll over in place. Reaction to being picked up: She tenses up, but allows the pickup while being cautious with her surroundings. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Beginner Madison interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat can go to a beginner home.
