06/07/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Reaction to assessor: Mac Dougal chirps then comes forward and rubs against the kennel door. Reaction when softly spoken to: Mac Dougal reaches out and continues to seek attention. Reaction to cage door opening: Mac Dougal is calm and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Mac Dougal rubs up and allows petting all over. He purrs softly rolls over on his side. Reaction to being picked up: Mac Dougal comes forward and stretches out on my chest while soliciting attention. He’s a bit tense but slowly relaxes when held. Behavior Determination: Average Mac Dougal interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents. 06/05/16 Reaction to assessor: Mac Dougal hissed as I approached the kennel. Reaction when spoken to softly: Mac Dougal’s eyes are focused on all movements and his tail is curled up at his side. Reaction to door cage opening: Mac Dougal raises his body up and lip licks. Reaction to touch: Mac Dougal sniffs the assessors hand and slowly backs away. His ears bend flat and he tolerates petting briefly before hissing. Mac Dougal becomes focused on all movements and then doesn’t allow any more contact. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Mac Dougal tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
