LYNNTORIA – A1106362

** SAFE 04/12/17 ** PUBLIC LIST ** Lynntoria was trapped, spay-aborted by the ACC, and has glowing volunteer comments. A volunteer writes: She’s a gorgeous calico girl with fur as white as fresh snow. And she’s already spayed, a sign that she may have been a house pet who lost her way. But this newcomer to the Care Center has a few strikes against her when it comes to finding the forever family she deserves. First, her name. It’s a lot easier for strangers who meet her for the first time to connect with a cat with a more playful name, like Fluffy or Sam or Goober, right? Then there’s her shyness. Lynntoria is still adjusting to adoption room life and isn’t yet up for interacting with new people. She isn’t aggressive; she just prefers hiding away right now, unsure of whom to trust. If you’re the kind of adopter who knows that some of the most wonderful cats in the world need to take their time coming out of their shell, then you’ll understand our girl Lynntoria.

ENRICHMENT NOTES: Click here to paste enrichment entries if applicable. A fearful cat will feel more relaxed when given options, so provide her with the chance to move closer, investigate, or interact with you. Be sure to offer incentive such as treats or play time whenever the cat makes a small positive step. Please speak to an adoption counselor for additional information on methods to desensitize your cat to their fear stimulus. RECOMMENDATIONS: – Experienced cat parent – Lynntoria tolerates little attention and petting and is fearful and stressed in the shelter. She may have some behavioral issues that will need to be addressed in the home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents. UPDATE 4/5: Lynntoria is showing some behavioral deterioration, likely from the extended stay in the shelter environment. When visited in recent days she is at the back of the cubby, tense posture, eyes dilated. She has begun hissing and swatting when touch is initiated. We recommend that Lynntoria move from the kennel into a stable home environment as quickly as possible.
