LYKKE – A1082412
Gone - 8-8-2016 Manhattan
**GONE 08/08/16**To know LYKKE is to LOVE LYKKE! This SWEET female cat with the tuxedo coloring and big green eyes is tiny and gentle! LYKKE is 11 months old and was found as a stray. LYKKE is a little less than 5 pounds. She needs some fattening up and some TLC! LYKKE hides her head in a corner, but soon calms down and likes being pet. A volunteer writes: “Lykke is another slightly shy girl currently residing in the cat adoption room who needs a bit of warming up before coming out of her shell. When I met her, she was all curled up in a tight ball asleep, an itty-bitty thing who looked more like a panda cub than a kitty. Nothing could shake her out of dreamland, so I’m relying on what Care Center staffers have said about Lykke: she’s curious, wide-eyed, accepts pettings and then gets more and more accepting of them-she even began purring during her behavior assessment. If you like the kind of cat who needs a little time to get confident and blossom, then gentle Lykke is your girl!” THIS SWEETHEART will die tomorrow if she’s not rescued! She is precious, friendly and gentle!! PLEASE RESCUE THIS BEAUTIFUL YOUNG KITTY TODAY!!!

07/26/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Lykke was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. She allowed all handling upon intake and was friendly during her initial medical exam. The enrichment facilitator reports she was curious during their first interaction, but appeared shy and had wide eyes. She was hesitant to come all the way to the front, but tolerated petting. During the next day, she appeared calmer and allowed all petting. She lied down after and rolled over. Reaction to assessor: Lykke appeared alert and looks around her surroundings. Reaction when softly spoken to: Lykke continues to look around, sticks her head forward, but averts her attention to things going on in the room. Reaction to cage door opening: Lykke continues to look around. Reaction to touch: Lykke accepts petting, but her body is tense and she buries her head into corner. After a moment, she warms up, leans in for petting, and begins to purr. Her body softens slightly, but still appears wary of the environment. Reaction to being picked up: Lykke remains calm and nuzzles against the assessor. Behavior Determination: Experience Lykke tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
