SAFE 6/13/18 LUPITA was brought to the shelter as a stray. She has a URI and has dental issues. Lupita is an older girl and needs a good home where she can get some follow up vet care and TLC.

Subjective: Alert, tense
Observed Behavior – Trying to run off exam table. Tense body, flinches at touch. Allows handling.
Evidence of Cruelty seen – None
Evidence of Trauma seen – None
BAR-H, MMs pink and moist, BCS 4/9
EENT: Mild serous ocular and nasal discharge, clean ears.
Oral Exam: Moderate tartar, right max and mandib canines are fractured; left max canine was attached by just a small amount of tissue and sitting perpendicular to its normal position in the alveolar socket – the root and crown are both entirely visible. Left mandib canine is missing. Several small abrasions and scratches on the face and in the ears.
PLN: No enlargements noted
H/L: NSR, NMA, Harsh lung sounds, increased resp effort.
ABD: Slightly tense, intestines feel fluid-filled. No masses palpated.
U/G: Female. Left ear-tipped.
MSI: Fur coat dirty; legs and tail are wet with tan fluid – possibly dirty water and possibly thin diarrhea/urine. Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted.
CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities
Rectal: Normal externally
Parvo test – negative
FeLV/FIV test – negative
1. URI, possible extension into lower airways
2. Possible diarrhea. Intestines feel fluid-filled.
3. Dental disease
1. LRS 100 ml SQ SID x4 days
2. Nebulize with saline BID x4 days
3. Doxycycline 0.5 ml PO SID x7 days
4. Monitor for diarrhea
5. Chest rads and CBC/chem tomorrow
