***SAFE 06/07/17*** SHY BUT PLAYFUL WITH KIDS – LUMIA IS LOOKING FOR A NEW FAMILY TONIGHT! A volunteer writes: “Lumia really loves people,” a volunteer tells me as she notices this gorgeous tuxie boy staring straight at me, mesmerizing me with his green eyes. Truer words have never been spoken. Lumia loves engaging humans, playing peekaboo, blinking softly, and getting as close to visitors as possible, showing off his calm, easygoing personality and hoping hard that someone will sign his adoption papes and make him their own. He’s a hearty 10 pounds and scores and A+ when it comes to his manners and people skills, and I have no doubt Lumia will be a wonderful new family member for almost any home. MUST RESERVE BY NOON!

05/22/2017 PET PROFILE MEMO
05/22/17 13:45 Basic: Lumia is a 3 year old neutered DSH. His owner got him off the street when he was a kitten and has had him for 3 years. He had an eye infection when he was little and was neutered in Dec 2016 by the ASPCA which is the last time he was seen by a vet. His owner needs to surrender because there is a newborn in the house and Lumia is a little too rough without meaning to be, and his owner is nervous with him around the baby. Socialization: Lumia is shy for a few minutes around strangers. He opens up later and is friendly. He has spent time with children ages 8 and 10 and was relaxed and too playful with them. He plays with children and adults exuberantly and sometimes too rough. He has not spent time with other cats much. He has not spent time with dogs or other pets. He does not have a bite history. Behavior: Lumia is well-behaved but sometimes he will scratch people accidentally while playing. He is relaxed during car rides. He has never had any issues with using the litterbox. He doesnt particularly like baths and will struggle, the same way he struggles with getting a nail trim. He isnt bothered when someone brushes him, picks him up and holds him, puts him in a carrier, or disturbs him while he is resting. For New Family: Lumia is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, and sometimes shy. His energy level is high. His owner loves that he will roll over and expose his belly when he wants attention. His favorite activities are jumping and running around the house. He will follow his owner around the house when he is at home and will also be in his favorite spot. He likes to play with balls, string, wand toys and chasing toys. He has been kept indoors only. He sleeps in his cat bad which is located in the kitchen. He likes to eat both wet and dry food 2xday. He loves Friskies. He is litterbox trained and uses an open litter box with Fresh Step clumping litter. He uses a vertical scratching pose made of rough rope, and the furniture to scratch on. During intake Lumia was relaxed and allowed the counselor to look at his eyes and in his mouth. He allowed collaring and allowed the counselor to pick him up. He did not growl, swat, or hiss and had a soft, relaxed body.
