Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Lulu’s previous owner reports she is a sweet and shy cat. She doesn’t do very well around strangers and children, and will hide from them. She does not hiss or swat, however. She has never been around other cats, but has been around a Chihuahua for a short period and avoided the dog. She loves to be brushed and will lay down to get groomed. She has a very low activity level and lounges around at home. Reaction to assessor: Lulu was lying down, calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Lulu looks around and leans on her side. Reaction to cage door opening: Lulu starts to lip lick and becomes stiff and alert. Reaction to touch: Lulu shifts away from the assessor’s hand after sniffing it. She allows petting and head-butts, but would become tense and turn around and focuses on the assessor’s hand. She twitches when pet on her body and her tail sways from side to side. After a few strokes, she hisses and swipes the assessor’s hand without nails. Behavior Determination: Experienced, No Children Lulu tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may need time to warm up to her new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
