***SAFE 11/03/17***BEGINNER KITTEN NEEDS FUREVER FAMILY**RETURN** FIVE MONTH OLD PRECIOUS ANGEL LULU was returned to the shelter by her owner due to not being able to afford vet bills. She’s lived with kids, is calm, affectionate and tolerates all petting and handling. This lovable little lady is at risk due to a URI. She needs a purrmanent pal and to be reserved by noon tomorrow!!!!

Hello, my name is Lulu. My animal id is #8987. I am a desexed female gray tabby kitten at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 5 months 2 weeks old. – P
I came into the shelter as a returns on 17-Oct-2017, with the surrender reason stated as animal health – cannot afford vet bill.
Lulu 8987 is at risk for an upper respiratory infection (URI). Behaviorally she has been calm and affectionate, allowing petting and handling when visited, and is suitable for a first-time adopter.

KNOWN HISTORY: Lulu has lived with 3 adults and various children of all ages. When strangers come over Lulu is relaxed. She approaches to sniff but walks away. She purrs when petted or picked up. Lulu purred when the children came over and visit. Lulu was playful and enjoys lounging around the house with the other cats. Lulu is described as affectionate, friendly and loves to cuddle. Lulu loves to sleep in the owner’s bed and also play with the other cats in the home. She likes strings and any cat toys. She also likes to look outside by the window. She is an indoor cat. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Observed Behavior – very sweet. Easily handleable. Did well for all medical handling and procedures Cage Condition: Cage is slightly re-arranged Reaction to assessor: Lulu was lying down by the back, calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Lulu rolls over and begins to purr. Reaction to cage door opening: Lulu remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Lulu accepts petting and purrs even louder. She leans in for cheek rubs and rolls over to show her belly. Reaction to being picked up: Lulu remains soft and continues to purr loudly when held. Kennel staff notes regurgitation this afternoon. No diarrhea, other two littermates are fine. Ate normally this morning, may have eaten too quickly this evening. BAR, hydrated EENT: clear au/ou PLN: wnl H/L: nsf ABD: soft, no pain or masses, rest of PE within normal limits. A: regurgitation: rule out secondary to eating too quickly vs infect/inflamm vs obstruction vs other P: single dose of cerenia SQ 0.3 ml (5:50 pm) if continues to vomit recommend further diagnostics/evaluation: xrays/bloods/parvo test etc. DVM: 1431

Hx: Pt adopted 10/10/17, returned last night for diarrhea and lethargy. Examined earlier today and no sneezing or oculonasal discharge was observed. Pt was started on metrnoidazole and Panacur. Pt reported sneezing this evening. S: Pt is lying down in kennel, head down. Pt raises head and interacts when touched and lifted up. O: BAR, BCS 4/9, estimated 5% dehydrated, MMs pink EENT: Mild serous nasal discharge, mild epiphora. Clean teeth. PLNs: Not significantly enlarged. H/L: NSR, NMA. Occasional sneezing. Quiet lung sounds. Abd: Soft, no pain on palpation, no masses palpated M/S/I: Amb x4. Shaved ventral abdomen, recent spay incision is smooth with no swelling, discharge or erythema. UG: Female Neuro: Alert and appropriate, no sign neurological deficiencies A: 1. Hx diarrhea 2. New onset URI Short-term prognosis: Good P: 1. Add doxycycline 0.4 ml PO SID x10 days 2. Recheck URI-day 6 doxycycline and diarrhea, tomorrow is last day of metronidazole S/O -QAR, friendly and docile -good appetite -no stool in box, yesterday there was a soft/normal stool noted -soft sneezing -OU: mild blepharospasm, no discharge -appears eupnic A Diarrhea-resolving URI-improving but not resolved P extend metronidazole x 3 days continue doxy, recheck in 2 days
