**SAFE 01/08/16**SECOND CHANCE TO FALL IN LOVE WITH LUCY–MAKE IT COUNT! YOU WILL LOVE LUCY THE KITTEN—BE HER HERO! A staff member writes, “Lucy is a 6 month old female domestic short hair mix. According to her previous owner Lucy is friendly and outgoing, and is gentle and loves to play around adults. She has never been around children. As a young kitten Lucy has a very high energy level, and could often be found napping on her owners couch or lazing about in the sunshine. She is fearful in the shelter environment so would do best with cat parents who can help her out of her nerves to become the sweetest cat around.” Lucy sadly lost her new home due to a “new baby.” Lucy gave her former family no reason to be concerned. So what does this lovely little girl get as a “reward” for being such a good kitty? Dumped at the kill happy shelter where she is set to become another sad ACC stat when tomorrow afternoon rolls around—due to a couple of curable kitty sniffles. Lucy is a sweetheart—just plays a little rough (after all, she is still a kitten). Please help turn things around for this little angel by reserving her online. Let a rescue know if you can help. Transportation is available. Don’t forget that fostering saves lives so let us know (by emailing our help desk) if you can offer Lucy temporary safe haven and we will assist you through the process. Make the call now for Lucy and fall in love!!!

12/22/15 17:35 Basic information: Lucy is a 6 month old female domestic short hair mix. The owner surrendered Lucy because of a new baby. Lucy has no health problems and the owner has not taken him to a vet. Socialization: The owner states that around strangers Lucy is friendly and outgoing. Lucy has not been around children but around adults she is gentle and loves to play. Lucy has never been around dogs or other cats so the owner has no idea how Lucy would react around them. Lucy has never bitten or scratched anyone. Behavior: Lucy has never been bathed or had her nails trimmed. She does not mind having his coat brushed, but does not like being picked up or placed in a cat carrier (she will struggle). For a new family to know: The owner describes Lucy as friendly and playful cat with a very high activity level. Lucy has never played with toys; she lives mostly indoors and sleeps anywhere in the house that she wants. In the home Lucy will follow the owner around and prefers to stay in same room as the owner. Lucy eats various brands of wet cat food and is feed once a day. She is litter box trained and uses an uncovered litter box with clumping litter. Lucy has never been given a scratching post so the owner does not know if she will use it or not. Behavior during intake: During intake Lucy was clam with soft body, she allowed us to scan (-) put on collar, photographed and placed in cat kennel.

12/27/2015 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Lucy’s previous owner stated that she is friendly and outgoing around strangers. She has not been around children, but around adults she is gentle and loves to play. She has never been around other cats or dogs, so her behavior around them is unknown. The owner describes her as a friendly and playful cat, with a very high activity level. Reaction to assessor: Lucy was calm, relaxed, and friendly by the front. Reaction when softly spoken to: Lucy reaches out with her paws. Reaction to cage door opening: Lucy remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Lucy head-butts and begins to purr. She turns around and nips gently on the assessor’s hand, but will continue to head-butt and solicit attention. Reaction to being picked up: Lucy remains calm and allows handling, but still nips. Behavior Determination: Experience No Child Lucy solicits attention and tolerates petting but may be assertively demanding of attention or may play roughly. We recommend fishing pole-type toys for play as they allow for interaction and vigorous, stimulating exercise while keeping human hands at a distance. Due to her tendency to nip, we feel that this cat will do best in a home without children.
