ACTIVITY LEVEL: Steady VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Skittish MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 7/16/17- Observed Behavior – nervous, tries to flea but allows all medical handling ENRICHMENT NOTES: 7/17/17 Crouched in dirty litter box, eyes dilated, extremely tense. Started hissing, growling, and retreating when door opened. Hissed and struck offered assess-a-hand. 7/18/17 Crouched behind litter box, eyes fully dilated, tense posture, limbs covered in fecal matter. Started hissing and spitting when door opened. Hissed, swatted, and pressed into back corner when offered assess-a-hand. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Lucille remains tense, tucked limbs hiding in the cubby during the approach. Reaction to cage door opening: Lucille distance increases, alert with eyes dilated. Reaction to touch: Lucille does not allow any contact. She began to hiss and swat at the assessor’s hand. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Lucille is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. She is stressed in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
