A volunteer writes: Lucas is so handsome to look at, but petting him is the real deal! When you walk by his kennel, he immediately rubs his head up against the bars saying ,”Pet me pet me!” When you pet him you will not want to stop. He head butts you to get more attention. Lucas is the purrfect companion.. When you have a bad day or a good day tell him about it and you will have a very good listener. Do you Need to lower your blood pressure, cuddling with Lucas, will calm you right down! For affection and cuddling come to the Manhattan Animal Care Center. LUCAS NEEDS A FUREVER HOME THIS TIME! 07/02/17 18:48 Basic Information: Lucas is a 2yr old Large cat who was in the same home for about 7months and was gotten from a Petco. Unfortunately the previous owner is moving to a no pets allowed building and was unable to him. There is no record of him ever going to the vet however; this cat is very obese. Socialization: Around children and strangers Lucas is known to be Friendly/outgoing, relaxed, playful and respectful and play gentle with both adults and children. There is no record of Lucas being socialized with dogs or other cats or ever biting another animal or person. Behavior: Lucas will only meow for attention or when they are hungry, will attempt to run out of your home if the door is open, will scratch up furniture if he doesn’t have a scratching post and will meow during a car ride but then become relaxed. He has never had any litter box accidents, will enjoy bath time but isn’t bothered with having his nails trimmed, being brushed or being disturbed while asleep. He is not a fan of being picked up or being placed in a carrier. For a New Family to Know: Lucas is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, somewhat mellow, confident, independent and talkative. He has a low activity level, loves to cuddle and get belly rubs, will follow you around when home and has no interests in toys. He has been kept indoors only, enjoys sleeping on the couch, eat blue buffalo kitten dry food 3x a day because the adult food gave him diarrhea, is considered house-trained, prefers an uncovered litter box with pellet litter has no interests in scratching posts and is afraid of brooms and vaccums. Intake: Upon intake Lucas allowed all handling, being collared, having his picture taken and being placed in a crate.

Lucas A1081970 is a 2yr old male brown tabby/white DSH feline who was left with the owner along with his brother Alex1081971 over 1 year ago. They are both being surrendered due to the current owner no longer being able to care for them. They have not been seen by a veterinarian and currently have no known health issues/injuries.
Socialization:
Around strangers Lucas is friendly with strangers. He is more relaxed than his brother. He is friendly around children and lived with his brother Alex all of his life. He plays exuberantly with him. He has not been around other dogs. He hasn’t bitten/scratched any person or animal.
Behavior:
During car rides Lucas will meow/cry. He isn’t bothered by the following: being placed into a carrier. He hasn’t been given a bath, had his nails trimmed or been disturbed while sleeping/resting. He likes to be picked up/held & brushed and always seeks attention.
For a New Family to Know:
Lucas is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, confident, assertive & talkative (at times) with a medium activity level. When the owner is home he follows them around. He enjoys ball & mouse toys and is an indoor only cat that sleeps on the couch or on the cabinets. He likes to play chase with his brother and hides and pounces on him. He eats dry Meow Mix 1 full bowl a day. He is uncovered litter box trained with clumping litter within. He scratches on a carpeted scratching post/cat tower.
Intake Behavior:
Lucas was a little fearful but allowed all handling. He allowed to be scanned (-), collared & taken pictures of including positioning during his photo session. He didn’t seem to mind being picked up/held & was placed into a kennel with ease.
