They are still nervous but slowly approaching us at the front of cage and then hide. They need an experienced person to work with them so they can learn to trust people. FOSTERING WILL SAVE THEM! Since intake Love’s behavior has been skittish, attempting to flee, crouching and hiding in the rear of the cage with lip licking. She remains uncomfortable in this environment and with her caretakers and is not currently a candidate for adoptions.

Upon intake, Love hissed and attempted to flee, but allowed handling once comfortable. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Very nervous, attempted to flee, growling/hissing/swatting EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage recently cleaned Reaction to assessor: Love is sitting at the back of the cage, body neutral Reaction when softly spoken to: Love is tense, motionless. Reaction to cage door opening: Love retreats into the den. Reaction to touch: Love attempts to flee, but tolerates petting and handling. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Lively VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Skittish, Independent POTENTIAL CHALLENGES: – Fearful – Kitten socialization RECOMMENDATIONS: – Experienced, adult home only Behavior observations _x_ Experienced, Adult Only Love tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children.
