11/07/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Lourdes was brought in without information on her behavioral tendencies in her previous home environment. She lived in a home with multiple cats and was reported to attempt to flee during intake. The medical team says she was easy to handle during her initial medical exam. Reaction to assessor: Lourdes was curled up under her blanket upon approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Lourdes does not respond. Reaction to cage door opening: Lourdes remains motionless. Reaction to touch: As the assessor uncovered her, she had a low body posture and seemed alert of her surroundings. She accepts petting and didn’t seem to mind attention, but would emit very soft meows during the interaction. Reaction to pick up: Lourdes was tense during pick up and will nuzzle against the assessor when held. Behavior Determination: Experienced Lourdes tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
