04/18/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Lolita was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to her behavior in her previous home. The enrichment facilitator has been monitoring Lolita and reports that ever since she came into the shelter she has been social and affectionate. She allows petting and rubs up for attention. Lolita gets overstimulated and could lash out. Please note that Lolita is being treated for a wound at the time of the behavior assessment. This injury may affect some of the behaviors shown during evaluation. Reaction to assessor: Lolita makes eye contact and is resting near the front of the kennel. Reaction when softly spoken to: Lolita stretches out and inches forward. Reaction to cage door opening: Lolita is calm and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Lolita sniffs the assessor’s hand allows petting around her head. She leans in cheek rubs and appreciates attention. Her tail starts to flicker as you pet her and she whips around quickly ready to swat when touched along her back. Lolita is social and affectionate but appears to be easily overstimulated. As a result of this observed behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal and agitation in cats, so that interactions can be ended before Lolita becomes overstimulated. We also recommend fishing pole-type toys for play as they allow for interaction and vigorous, stimulating exercise while keeping human hands at a distance. Behavior Determination: Experience No Children Lolita solicits attention and tolerates petting but may be assertively demanding of attention or may play roughly. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents and without children.
