02/26/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPNOCHILD
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: Lola was brought in without information on her behavioral tendencies in her previous home environment. She was swatting during intake and did not allow the counselors to handle her. MEDICAL NOTES: Attempting to bite, striking throughout exam ENRICHMENT NOTES: 2/22/17 Resting on bedding, looking around. Occasionally meowed when spoken to. Initially moved away, then leaned into pets. Abruptly hissed and swatted. Unclear if overstimulated or startled by loud construction noises directly outside of room. 2/23/17 Came to the front on approach, soft eyes and body, occasional meowing. Leaned into pets, some tail flicking when touched around hips, but no hissing or swatting today. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: Lola was inside a den with her head near the opening, calm and relaxed. Reaction when softly spoken to: Lola turns to face the assessor but wraps her tail against her body. Reaction to cage door opening: Lola becomes alert, but remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Lola was hesitant of contact, but she allows gentle petting on her head. She becomes tense when touched along her back, but will continue to allow soft petting on her head. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Shy, Calm RECOMMENDATIONS: _x_ Experienced, adult home only – Han tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter, and may be intimidated by small children. She may not be comfortable with touch on certain areas of her body. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in an experienced, adult only home who understands this cat may need time to warm up to her new home and family at her own pace.
