She comes right to the front of the cage and loves a scratch on the top of her head and enjoys a few treats. This is a girl that likes to survey the scene from afar. She’s lovely.
**Adopted last month and now this 6 yr old tuxie girl is BACK at the ACC shelter! No info on why she was returned but this girl is already spayed and needs a new furever home now!! Please consider adopting LOLA!!

Hello, my name is Lola. My animal id is #10215. I am a desexed female black cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 6 years 1 months 2 weeks old. – P
I came into the shelter as a returns on 19-Oct-2017.
Lola is at risk for medical reasons, having been diagnosed with Upper Respiratory Infection, which is contagious to other cats. Behaviorally, we have no concerns about Lola, and she has been assessed as suitable for most homes.

Lola allowed all handling and collaring. She allowed transferred into a new carrier. Her eyes were dilated but she was receptive to touch. She stood nicely next to a pumpkin for a picture.

Basic Information:: Lola is a 6 years old spayed female domestic short hair. Her previous owner adopted her from and returned her to MACC. The previous owner had her for 1 month and decided to surrender because she bit a family friend.

How is this cat around strangers?: She was shy around strangers and remained hidden while strangers were in the house.
How is this cat around children?: She was not around children. If children came over to the house, she stayed far away from them.
How is this cat around other cats?: She was not around other cats in the previous home.
How is this cat around dogs?: She was not around other dogs in the previous home.
Behavior Notes: ola scratched on a cardboard scratching post Lola hid in fear when someone came over. She was fearful tto go inside the carrier and during transport. She was not bothered when bathed, nails are trimmed, picked up and held, put into a carrier, or when she is disturbed while she sleeps.

The previous owner favorite thing about her was that she was always in the same room as him when company was not around. She was not interested in toys. She scratched on a scratching post and was very independent.

ENRICHMENT NOTES:: 10/22/17 Crouched on top of bed, looking around with dilated eyes. Inches closer when spoken to, but was hesitant of touch. Sniffs hand when extended, curious, but accepts petting and arches her back. She leans in for rubs and eats treats when offered, but may need time to warm up to her surroundings. Doing well so far! 10/23/17 Resting on kuranda bed, eyes dilated but soft posture. Lay in place on approach, started slow blinking, then appeared to briefly doze off. Woke when door opened, ate offered treats. Stood, leaned and arched into pets, but wouldn’t come forward even when offered more treats. Eyes still dilated. 10/25/17 Curled up asleep under kuranda bed. Woke when door opened, soft eyes and body, stood and came forward when offered treats. Leaned and arched into pets, purred, ate treats from my hand. 10/26/17 Resting under kuranda bed, soft eyes and body. Lay in place when door opened, then came to the front for treats. A little hesitant with overhead gestures, but leaned and arched into pets. Tolerated pick up, but preferred to avoid.
