A1124526 Lisa – Lisa is at-risk with an experienced determination. She remains calm and relaxed, but hisses when approached for interaction. She warms up when touched and is mostly indifferent, but will hiss each time she’s approached. She may be apprehensive of human interaction, but she has potential to warm up if she’s provided extra socialization.

09/06/17 13:42 09/06/17 13:42 Basic Information Lisa is a three month old, white and black, female kitten. She was surrendered with her sister and brother and they were bred at home. Owner surrendered them for personal reasons. Lisa has no signs of illness or injury. Socialization Lisa is a shy cat around strangers–she hides for several minutes and approaches curiously. She lived and spent time with owner’s 11 year old niece and was relaxed and respectful around her. She is gentle when he playing with adults and children. She also lived at home with 11 other cats and was playful, respectful and very tolerant around them. She never bit a human or another animal. Behavior Lisa does not scratch on furniture and meows only when playing with the other cats. She isn’t bothered when given a bath or her coat brushed; loves to be picked up and held. Owner stated that Lisa’s nails were never trimmed and that she was never placed in a carrier until the day she was surrendered; and, she hid at the back of the carrier nervous. For a new Family to know Lisa is a friendly, playful, mellow and shy cat with medium energy. She is lovely cat that loves to cuddle and play with her brothers and sisters and was kept mostly indoors. She stays in her favorite spot in owner’s basement and rarely seeks attention. She slept on a large cat bed and was fed dry cat food (Friskies) twice daily because wet food gave her diarrhea. She is house/litter box trained–uses a wee wee pad–and used an uncovered litter box with crystals cat litter. Lisa often scratched on a rough rope scratch post. Behavior during Intake Lisa had a stiff body, hissed and withdrew to the back of the carrier. But she relaxed when counselor picked her out and, although she moved around a lot, she allowed all handling

ACTIVITY LEVEL: Steady VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Bold, Skittish KNOWN HISTORY: Lived Indoors Previously lived with: adults, spent time with an 11 year old, and 11 other cats Behavior toward strangers: shy cat, hides for several minutes and approaches curiously. Behavior toward children: relaxed and respectful Behavior toward cats: playful, respectful and very tolerant around them Bite or Scratch history: none Litter box training: yes Other notes: Lisa is a friendly, playful, mellow and shy cat with medium energy. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: 9/7/17- Observed Behavior – unsozialized–hissing but no aggression ENRICHMENT NOTES: 09/07/17 Looks around with wide eyes, stiff and alert when approached. Hisses repeatedly when hand is extended and spits when cornered. Allowed me to wrap in a towel and hold without issue. Starts to shake when held, but allows me to pet all over. Will hiss again when placed back in kennel and will flee to avoid contact, but has potential to warm up. Needs more time to adjust. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: No change Reaction to assessor: Lisa remains neutral, lying down at the back of the cage cubby during the approach. Reaction when softly spoken to: Lisa becomes alert with eyes wide open. Reaction to cage door opening: Lisa body stiffens up in place with ears erect and forward. Reaction to touch: Lisa began to hiss at the assessor’s hand, distance increase, but when touched she shows no further interest with the interaction. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Lisa may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
