SAFE 7/7/17 A volunteer writes: Lisa is a teddy bear of a cat. Come and meet her, and she’ll probably be purring before you even say “hello”. She likes to chat, and loves to be petted. And she’ll make sure you know it — flopping around, relaxing like she’s in a kitty day spa. At home, Lisa will be happy to play with you, but she’s just as happy to be lazy. Most importantly, Lisa loves company. Just be careful that she does not get too excited with play. If you’re an experienced cat parent who knows how to read the signs, and if you’re looking for a new best friend who’ll fit right into your cat-savvy family, Lisa is ready to come home with you.
***LISA lost her home when owner became ill – she needs a new home asap!

ENRICHMENT NOTES:
06/27/17
Meowing by the front, leaning on the cage door. Hisses randomly and grumbles, but would also rub on cage door when coaxed. Seems conflicted. Allows brief petting before hissing again and shifting away. Sprayed feliway.
EVALUATION:
Cage Condition: No change
Reaction to assessor: Lisa chirps and rubs her body up against the cage door.
Reaction when softly spoken to: Lisa rolls around the kennel and reaches out with paws towards the assessor.
Reaction to cage door opening: Lisa waits by the door and tries to jump out the kennel.
Reaction to touch: Lisa is incredibly affectionate; she rolls around playfully and nuzzles against the assessor’s hand. The hairs on her back and tail pilo-erect and she occasionally pauses and focuses on her surroundings. She can be easily distracted then goes right back to soliciting attention. Her tail lashes and she seems to get aroused with prolonged interactions.
Reaction to being picked up: Lisa was a bit tense when picked up, but allowed all handling.
ACTIVITY LEVEL: Lively
VOCAL: Somewhat chatty
CHARACTER TYPE: Affectionate, Curious
POTENTIAL CHALLENGES:
Overstimulation – Lisa is social and affectionate but appears to show signs of overstimulation. As a result of this observed behavior we recommend adopters who are familiar with signs of behavioral arousal and agitation in cats, so that interactions can be ended before Lisa becomes overstimulated. We also recommend fishing pole-type toys for play as they allow for interaction and vigorous, stimulating exercise while keeping human hands at a distance.
RECOMMENDATIONS:
Experienced cat parent – Lisa may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to her new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
