He is only a kitten and needs a home where he can relax and regroup. LION is not aggressive but only frightened. PLEASE GIVE THIS ADORABLE GINGER KITTEN A PLACE TO CALL HOME. I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 07/28/2017 from NY 10307, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY. I came in with Group/Litter #K17-105897.

Lion A1120077 is at risk due to new hope only behavior determination. Lion displays fearful behaviors and tries to hide when approached for interaction. He becomes stiff and alert, and does not allow petting at this time; he hisses loudly when petting is attempted, backs away, and attempts to flee.

Name and A#: Lion A1120077 Date: 7/30/2017 KNOWN HISTORY: Lion came to the shelter as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: During his initial medical exam, Lion was fearful and frantically tried to flee. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage recently cleaned Reaction to assessor: Lion was hiding in a den, resting. Reaction when softly spoken to: Lion looked up through one of the den air holes at the assessor, eyes wide. Reaction to cage door opening: Lion became tense and backed away from the assessor, continuing to stare with wide eyes. Reaction to touch: Lion hissed loudly, backed away, and attempted to flee. Reaction to being picked up: Did not attempt. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Skittish, Fearful RECOMMENDATIONS: – Placement with a New Hope partner – Lion is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and/or may require further investigation before placement in a home. He has tried to is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
