Hello, my name is Lilly. My animal id is #8812. I am a female black cat at the Brooklyn Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks i am about 1 years 1 weeks old.

KNOWN HISTORY: Lilly was brought in as a stray, so there is no information on her behavior history or tendencies in a home environment. Her finder stated she was friendly and meowed when petted. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Observed Behavior – allowed all handling ENRICHMENT NOTES: 10/05/17 Lying in back of kennel, eyes wide and body low. Pupils are dilated. She tolerates petting along her head and body while turning to watch my hand, whites of eyes showing. Needs more time to adjust. 10/09/17 Lying in back of kennel with a low body. She lifts her head to sniff my hand and leans in gently for petting. She warms up after a few moments of continued petting and begins to raise her rear into the air when pet along the back. Lowers her head onto the floor and head-butts my hand softly. Beginning to warm up â€“ did great today! Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: Lilly was lying down by the back and looks at the assessor. Reaction when softly spoken to: Lilly looks at the assessor, and then looks around. Reaction to cage door opening: Lilly remains motionless. Reaction to touch: Lilly is a bit hesitant initially, but she accepts petting and begins to warm up. She leans in for cheek rubs and rolls over. She lifts her rear when pet on her lower back and begins to purr. Reaction to being picked up: Lilly is a bit tense, but nuzzles against the assessor when held. When placed back into the kennel, she lightly pats the assessor with her paw and lies down flat. She continues to allow gentle petting and leans in for more cheek rubs. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Shy Sweet Affectionate POTENTIAL CHALLENGES: None BEHAVIOR DETERMINATION: Experience Behavior Asilomar TM – Treatable-Manageable BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Lilly appreciates petting and attention but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may need time to warm up to her new home and family. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
