*** DIABETIC LILI IS CALM AND AFFECTIONATE AND NEEDS A RESCUE ANGEL TONIGHT!! LILI is a senior kitty of about 14 yrs old whose owner surrendered for “allergies”. Her owner had her since she was a kitten. Now she is betrayed and hoping there is someone out there who will offer her a retirement home where she can get the care she needs. PLEASE HELP LILI TONIGHT BY RESERVING HER BY NOON!!

Hello, my name is Lili. My animal id is #9989. I am a desexed female brown tabby cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 14 years old. – P
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 17-Oct-2017, with the surrender reason stated as person health – allergies.
Lili is at risk due to diabetic condition.
Lili 9989 is at risk for her medical condition, including diabetes mellitus and possible additional chronic conditions. Please see the veterinary notes for further details and clarification. Behaviorally she has been calm and affectionate, allowing petting and handling when visited, and is suitable for a first-time adopter.

[DVM Intake] DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: geriatric 15-17 YO FS DSH Microchip noted on Intake? neg History : owner surrender Subjective: QAR Objective BCS: 3/9 EENT: bilateral mydriasis and minimal yellow ocular d/c, clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted Oral Exam: limited, oligodontia PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: grade II-III/VI heart murmur, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: FS, no mammary gland, no d/c MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, unkempt hair coat with multiple hair matts and dry flaky skin CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: grossly normal Assessment: geriatric FS DSH 1. grade II-III/VI heart murmur 2. mydriasis OU 3. 3/9 BCS 4. unkempt hair coat and flaky skin 5. hx of inappropriate urinations – urinated on table during exam (4 + glucose, neg ketones) Prognosis: guarded to poor Plan: 1. full bloodwork 2. chest xrays 3. blood pressure 4. USG (1.040); appearance of urine is clear; not sure why USG is so high 5. glucose 4+ SURGERY not indicated, already spayed
Hx: owner surrender due to recent inappropriate urination around the house; urinated on table during intake exam and was noted to have 4+ glucosuria; chemistry available for review, unable to run CBC at this time Chemistry-severe hyperglycemia (491), mildly elevated BUN (37), mildly elevated globulins and cholesterol S/O -mild appetite, social eater -QAR, a little cranky but allows most handling -mm pk, tacky; dental disease -OU: cataracts -no nasal discharge or sneezing -eupnic, heart/lungs WNL -soft, doughy abdomen -very unthrifty hair coat with severe dandruff -mild to moderate diffuse muscle wasting A Diabetes mellitus Cataracts Muscle wasting/unthrifty-suspect secondary to uncontrolled DM P Placed IVC, LRS @ 15 ml/hr Cerenia 0.4 ml IV SID x 3 days Convenia injection for possible concurrent UTI Glargine insulin 1 U BID, with food Feed canned food BID with insulin Rec’d BG curve in 10-14 days prognosis: fair, typically diabetes can be well managed in cats and often can revert to non insulin dependent diabetes with proper dietary management (canned, prescription diet with twice daily feedings)

Upon intake, Lili allowed collaring inside the carrier. When going to take her out she started growling and backing up. Counselor took picture inside the carrier.

Basic Information:: Lili is a older Spayed female cat. Owner got her as a kitten. Owner is surrendering due to allergies with children.
If yes, Please elaborate:: Owner stated that Lili will pee outside the litterbox daily and has not seen a vet for this issue. This has been happening the last 6 months.

How is this cat around strangers?: Lili is friendly with strangers and approaches them. She will swat if they are petting her too rough.
How is this cat around children?: Lili has only been around a 3 year old child but never interacted with them due to the child having allergies.
How is this cat around other cats?: Lili has not been around other cats so behavior is unknown.
How is this cat around dogs?: Lili has not been around other dogs so behavior is unknown.
Behavior Notes: there are no behavior issues owner is concerned about

Energy level/descriptors:: low
Medical Notes: Owner reported not peeing int he litterbox for about 6 months now.
For a New Family to Know: Owner described her as mellow, talkative, and confident. Owner has never tried bathing or trimming his nails. She can become afraid sometimes when going into the carrier but will not be reactive.he uses the wood door to scratch.
