08/02/16 20:17 Basic Information: LightingBolt is a 1 year old neutered gray tabby DSH that has no past or current medical issues that the owner is aware of. Owner has had LightingBolt since he was a kitten. Socialization: According to the owner, around strangers can be shy for a few minutes or fearful. Around adults, LightingBolt needs to be in the mood to play but when he does he is rough. Around young children, LightingBolt plays rough with them. She has never been around other cats or dogs so his behavior is unknown. He has never bitten a person or another animal before. Behavior: Previous owners stated that LightingBolt does not have any behavioral or litterbox issues. LightingBolt does scratch the furniture especially curtains. Owner did bath or trim Charlie’s nails and he would run or struggle from these grooming agents. LightingBolt isn’t bothered by having her coat brushed. LightingBolt allows being picked up and held but only for a short period of time, she will attempt to struggle free when she has had enough. LightingBolt isn’t bothered by being put into a carrier and she meows during car rides. For a New Family to Know: LightingBolt is described as playful cat with a medium activity level. When in the home, LightingBolt is would sometimes follow you around if he wants attention and other times she would just be in his favorite spots. He does play with string toys. He was kept indoors and is litter box trained. LightingBolt used a hooded litter box, and clumping litter. He was fed friskies wet and dry food.

Lightingbolt came to the shelter surrendered by an owner who described him as active and playful and notes that he was rough with young children in the home. Reaction to assessor: Lightingbolt is sitting in the back of his cage. Reaction when softly spoken to: Lightingbolt hisses. Reaction to cage door opening: Lightingbolt hisses, lowers body. Reaction to touch: Lightingbolt leans forward to sniff the assessor, then backs away. After a few moments, Lightingbolt head-butts the assessor and leans into petting. Reaction to pick up: Lightingbolt calmly jumps down from assessor’s arms. Placement Determination: Experience (no young children) Lightingbolt is fearful at first and requires a slow approach, but ultimately appreciates petting and allows all handling. Due to his fearfulness and owner reports of rough play, Lightingbolt is exhibiting behavior suited to experienced cat parents with no young children who can allow him appropriate adjustment time and an outlet for his energy.
