STRAY INTAKE: 1/12/2017
Initial Exam 1/12
Estimated age: 5-8 years old
S: Sitting in cage, alert, allows handling but hisses when repeatedly examined or touched
O: BAR-H, BCS 4/9, MMs pink and moist
EENT: Moderate purulent discharge OU. Mild brown waxy debris AU. Clean nose. Missing most teeth; remaining teeth (mandibular incisors and canines) are fractured with severe gingivitis. Mouth chatters when drinking water or when face is touched.
PLNs: Not enlarged.
H/L: NSR, NMA. Eupnic, quiet lung sounds.
Abd: Soft, no pain on palpation, no masses palpated
M/S/I: Amb x4. No skin lesions noted.
1. Severe dental disease – possibly resorptive lesions with retained roots
2. Conjunctivitis OU
3. Mild otitis externa – likely ear mites
Short-term prognosis: Good
1. Tresaderm AU BID x10 days
2. Erythromycin OU BID x10 days
3. Buprenorphine 0.3 mg/ml 0.2 ml OTM BID x10 days
4. Recommend dental rads and extractions ASAP (before buprenorphine ends, ideally)
Leslie has not had a behavior evaluation but she is a medical blue (tolerates most handling). She allowed her finder to pick her up and place her into a carrier, and allowed the driver to handle and pet her.
