07/02/17 17:59 Basic Information: Leo is a 5 year old neutered male that had a blockage 4 years ago that he needed to get surgery for. He has not had any recent medical issues that the owner is aware of. Owner had had Leo for 4 years but had to surrender due to landlord issues. Socialization: According to the owner, around strangers, Leo is shy for a few days at first but once comfortable, he plays gently with adults. He has never been around children so behavior is unknown. Owner’s roommate had a female cat in the home and stated that Leo was always relaxed and respectful around the other animal. Owner did not have a dog in the home but stated that whenever her neighbor would come to the house, Leo would hide the whole time the day was over. Leo does not have a bite history. Behavior: Owner has never tried to bathe Leo or trim his nails so behavior is unknown. He enjoys having his coat brushed, being picked up and held. Leo is not bothered by someone putting him into a carrier or being disturbed while sleeping. For a New Family to Know: Leo is described as friendly, affectionate, sometimes playful and quiet. He has a very medium activity level and likes to play with balls, string toy and feather toys. In the home, he liked to follow the owner around from room to room. He was fed wet food only brand Science Diet. Owner stated that Leo is litter box trained. In the home, he used a hooded litter box with clumping litter. Owner had a scratching post made of rough rope in the home that Leo would use frequently. He would also scratch on the furniture in the home. Behavior during intake: Leo was nervous and trying to hide in the carrier during intake. Counselor was able to pick him up, scan for a mc, collar and take a picture without any issues.

KNOWN HISTORY: Lived Indoors Previously lived with: Adults Behavior toward strangers: Shy for a few days at first but warms up and plays gently Behavior toward children: Unknown Behavior toward cats: Spent time around a female cat and was relaxed and respectful Behavior toward dogs: Unknown Bite or Scratch history: None Litter box training: Yes Energy level/descriptors: Friendly, affectionate, sometimes playful and quiet with a medium activity level Other notes: He enjoys having his coat brushed, being picked up and held. He likes to play with balls, string toy and feather toys. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Docile, allows all handling ENRICHMENT NOTES: 07/05/17 Sitting in litterbox with a tense body. He sniffs my hand when I reach towards him and comes forward to eat some treats. Raises butt and stands up with continued petting. Not confident enough yet to raise tail or leave his litter box fully, but appreciates attention and warms up quickly when touched. Has potential to warm up here. Sprayed feliway. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: Leo was lying down in the back of the kennel resting against his litter box. Reaction when softly spoken to: Leo turns his head to make eye contact then slow blinks. Reaction to cage door opening: Leo curls up tight Reaction to touch: Leo stares at the assessor then lowers his head when he extends his hand out. He lip licks and tolerates soft, gentle pets on his head and along his body. After a few soft pets he shifts his weight, leans in for cheek rubs then rises up. He slowly builds up confidence, gives head butts and appreciates attention. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mellow VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Shy, Sweet RECOMMENDATIONS: Experienced cat parent – Leo may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
