08/16/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Leo came to the shelter as a stray, so we don’t have any behavioral history or tendencies in a home environment. Upon intake, Leo was frightened during transfer and was hesitant. Reaction to assessor: Leo becomes alert, eyes wide. Reaction when softly spoken to: Leo continues to be alert, wide eyes and stiff. Reaction to cage door opening: Leo attempts to flee. Reaction to touch: Leo moves away to avoid any touch and is focused on escaping. Placement Determination: New Hope Only Leo is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. Leo is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
