*** SAFE 11/17/17 *** LEMONADE is a 1 yr old girl who was brought in as part of a hoarding case. She was covered in fleas. Lemonade is a shy girl but would love a home of her own where she can get lots of TLC and love.

Hello, my name is Lemonade . My animal id is #11475. I am a female brown tabby cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 1 years old. – P
I came into the shelter as a aco impound on 02-Nov-2017, with the surrender reason stated as poor choice – too many animals already.
Lemonade is at risk due to fearful behavior in care center. Lemonade should go to an experienced adopter that will give Lemonade time to acclimate to a new environment. There are no known medical concerns for Lemonade at this time.

DVM Intake Exam Estimated age: 1-3 years based on dentition and overall appearance Microchip noted on Intake? Scanned neg on intake History : Part of hoarding case. Owner thinks that this cat is the mother of three 2-week-old kittens (11477, 11478, 11479) but she isn’t sure – it might be another cat. Subjective: Timid, alert. Eats food when offered. COVERED in fleas. Observed Behavior – Tense, allows all handling. Objective BAR. BCS 5/9, MMs slightly pale pink EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted Oral Exam: Clean teeth, mild gingivitis PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated U/G: Female, no or minimal mammary development MSI: Ambulatory x 4, live fleas crawling all over pt’s abdomen. Many scabs on neck. Fur over tailhead is rough and barbered short. No masses noted. CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: Normal externally. Assessment: 1. Severe flea infestation 2. Does not appear to have recently had a litter Prognosis: Good Plan: Treat for fleas – Capstar during exam and also topical tx SURGERY: Okay for surgery 1088

KNOWN HISTORY:: Lemonade was brought in as a stray, so there is no information on their behavior history or tendencies in a home environment.
MEDICAL BEHAVIOR:: Observed Behavior – Tense, allows all handling.
Cage Condition:: Cage is recently cleaned
Reaction to assessor:: Lemonade becomes alert and focuses on the assessor with her ears tilted downward.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Lemonade continues to look at the assessor and appears tense.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Lemonade tenses up, but remains motionless.
Reaction to touch:: Lemonade sniffs the assessor’s hand and curls up. She remains immobile, but seems to like cheek and chin rubs. She appears wary of her surroundings.
ACTIVITY LEVEL:: Moderate
VOCAL:: Quiet

Behavior Asilomar: TM – Treatable-Manageable
BEHAVIOR SUMMARY:: Lemonade appreciates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. She may need time to warm up to her new home and family. We recommend that this cat go to a home with experienced cat parents.
