05/03/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – NH ONLY
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: Lee was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Hissing tries to strike EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is slightly re-arranged Reaction to assessor: Lee was curled up and resting on his blanket. Reaction when softly spoken to: Lee slowly turned towards the assessor and hissed. Reaction to cage door opening: Lee is alert and focused. Reaction to touch: Lee lowers his body and continues to hiss when approached. His body is tense/stiff and he quickly whips around every time the assessor tries to make contact. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Skittish Please note that this cat is being treated for a medical condition at the time of evaluation. It is difficult to determine at this time how the medical condition may be affecting the behavior. RECOMMENDATIONS: Placement with a New Hope partner – Lee is displaying behaviors that preclude placement in the adoptions room and may require further investigation before placement in a home. He is extremely fearful in the shelter environment and does not currently tolerate petting or handling. The behavior department feels that placement with a New Hope Partner is the best option at this time.
