Behavior
Larry was brought in as a stray, so we cannot speak to his behavior in his previous home. Upon intake, he was a bit hesitant to come out of his carrier, but once outside he allowed the counselors to pet him on his head and back. He grumbled slightly when placed back into his carrier, but was relaxed during his initial medical exam. The enrichment facilitator reports he gets distracted easily by treats. Once he is finished with treats, he would lean in for petting.
Reaction to assessor: Larry was resting in his cage upon approach.
Reaction when softly spoken to: Larry wakes and blinks sleepily. He slowly comes forward and leans on the cage door.
Reaction to cage door opening: Larry remains soft and relaxed.
Reaction to touch: Larry leans in for petting, begins to purr, and meows when petting stops.
Reaction to being picked up: Larry remains calm and allows handling.
Behavior Determination: Average
Larry interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat is showing behavior appropriate for new or experienced cat parents.
