08/22/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
As per previous owner, around strangers Lancelot is shy for few minutes. He’s lived with children ages 4yrs & 7yrs and was gentle, playful & relaxed with them and the adult in the home. Lancelot hasn’t been around other animals nor has he bitten/scratched any person or animal. Reaction to assessor: Lancelot does not come to the front, but remains neutral. Reaction when softly spoken to: Lancelot does not come to the front, but remains neutral. Reaction to cage door opening: Lancelot becomes stiff, alert, tail flicks. Reaction to touch: Lancelot briefly tolerates touch, then hisses at the assessor. If pressed, he eventually swats, but does not aggress further. Behavior Determination: Experience Lancelot tolerates attention and petting but may be fearful or stressed in the shelter. He may be a little more independent, and may need time to warm up to his new home. Due to the behaviors seen in the care center, we feel that this cat will do best in a calm, quiet home with experienced cat parents. Although his previous owners reports he has done well in a home with children, due to his stress levels in the care center, we advise any future home with children conduct a thorough interaction before adopting.
