** SAFE 04/10/17 ** PUBLIC LIST ** Kitty Kat is a spayed owner surrender with nice volunteer comments.
Hi, everyone! My name is Kitty Kat, and I wanted to introduce myself. I’m new here to the shelter, and this new change of address has been a lot for me to process. I was a little nervous in the beginning, but I have to say-things are starting to look up! I really like my human friends, and I love when they come by to visit me. I also love when they bring me treats and when they pet me. I can be a little timid in the beginning, but don’t let that fool you-I love to give head butts and also chat with my humans, meowing a lot to tell them all about my thoughts and dreams. My biggest dream right now is find a place where I can feel safe and where I can be a furry companion. I hope you will consider helping me find my forever home!
Message [email protected] if you can foster or adopt her tonight!

03/16/2017 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – EXPERIENCE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
KNOWN HISTORY: Kitty Kat was brought in with limited information on her behavior in her previous home. Her owner reports she has lived with other cats and dogs, but her behavior around them is unknown. She uses a scratching post and was reported to be shy, hiding a lot. MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Observed Behavior – calm, allows handling ENRICHMENT NOTES: 3/12/17 Crouched in litter box, stiff posture, eyes dilated. Lay in place when door opened, tolerated pets, some lip licking. 3/13/17 Initially in litter box, crouched low, eyes dilated. Came slowly forward to eat offered treats, sniffed hand through bars. Tolerated or slightly moved away from pets while eating, remained low to the ground, stiff and wary. 3/1/17 Huge improvement! Meowing and repeatedly rolling over on top of bed. Came to the front on approach, still meowing, rolling over, and rubbing against the bars. Leaned and arched into pets, purred, rolled over again. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: Kitty Kat chirps and then approaches the front to sniff around. Reaction when softly spoken to: Kitty Kat looks around and stretches. Reaction to cage door opening: Kitty Kat remains soft and relaxed. Reaction to touch: Kitty Kat head-butts lightly, leans in for petting, and lifts her rear when pet along her back. She becomes tense and focuses on her surroundings at times, but will lean in for rubs and seems to appreciate attention. Reaction to being picked up: Kitty Kat is slightly tense, but allows handling. ACTIVITY LEVEL: Moderate VOCAL: Somewhat chatty CHARACTER TYPE: Timid, Sweet, Curious BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Experience Kitty Kat interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. Although this cat is displaying behaviors appropriate for cat parents with an average amount of experience, due to an incident with her previous owner, we recommend she goes to a home with experienced cat parents. There were no additional details on the context of the incident, but we recommend her adopters allow her time to warm up to her new home at her own pace.
