Hello, my name is Kitty . My animal id is #21481. I am a desexed female brown tabby cat at the Manhattan Animal Care Center. The shelter thinks I am about 5 years old. – P
I came into the shelter as a owner surrender on 23-Feb-2018, with the surrender reason stated as person health – medical.

Kitty is at risk for behavior reasons. Kitty is very nervous and fearful at the Care Center, choosing to spend her time curled at the back of her kennel, and avoiding interaction. Medically, we have no concerns for Kitty, who presents as a healthy cat.

Subjective: BARH. A bit nervous but well behaved for PE and vaccination, no signs of aggression Observed Behavior – Evidence of Cruelty seen – n Evidence of Trauma seen – n Objective T = P = wnl R = eup BCS 5/9 EENT: Eyes clear, ears clean, no nasal or ocular discharge noted Oral Exam: mod tartar and gingivitis PLN: No enlargements noted H/L: NSR, NMA, CRT < 2, Lungs clear, eupnic ABD: Non painful, no masses palpated. Concern that p may be pregnant. Abdomen does not appear overly distended, did not palpate any fetuses. U/G: FI, no MGTs, no vulvar discharge, no lactation. MSI: Ambulatory x 4, skin free of parasites, no masses noted, healthy hair coat CNS: Mentation appropriate – no signs of neurologic abnormalities Rectal: normal externally Assessment apparently healthy Prognosis: excellent Plan: plan for OHE SURGERY: Okay for surgery

Pre-surgical exam, anesthesia, and surgery performed by ASPCA. Green linear tattoo placed lateral to incision. Start 0.55 ml Robenacoxib 20 mg/ml sid sq x 2 days and 0.72 ml simbadol 1.8 mg/ml sid sq x 2 days as pain management.

Upon intake, Kitty was meowing inside of her carrier. Kitty allowed me to pet her inside of her carrier but she quickly walked out when I removed my hand. Kitty pulled away hard as I tried to collar her and would try to run away if I let go of her. Kitty allowed me to place her into her kennel.

Basic Information:: Kitty is an 8 year old female brown tabby and white domestic short haired cat. Kitty has lived with previous owner for the past 8 years. Kitty was surrendered because her previous owner could no longer care for her due to medical reasons. Kitty has no injuries or health issues and has never been taken to the vet.
Previously lived with:: Kitty previously lived with one adult.
How is this cat around strangers?: Kitty is shy for days around strangers. Kitty will hide when someone comes over and will remain hidden until they leave. Her previous owner noted that it will take Kitty a minimum of 3 days to come out of hiding if the same stranger is there.
How is this cat around children?: Kitty has been around children but will remain hidden and does not interact.
How is this cat around other cats?: Kitty has not interacted with other cats.
How is this cat around dogs?: Kitty has previously interacted with a medium mixed breed dog. Kitty is described as being affectionate and playful with the dog.
Behavior Notes: During car rides, Kitty is meowing and crying but will eventually relax. Kitty has never been bathed or had her nails trimmed but enjoys having her coat brushed. Kitty will struggle and hiss when being picked up and held and will run away when she is disturbed as she rests.

For a New Family to Know: Kitty is a mellow, shy, and independent cat. When at home, Kitty will follow you around and likes to be in the same room as you. Kitty was kept as an indoors only cat and would sleep in her cat condo or on her owner’s bed. Kitty was free-fed 9 Lives dry food every day. Kitty is litter box trained and used an uncovered box with Fresh Step cat litter. Kitty had a cat condo made of carpet and she would also scratch furniture.

Reaction to assessor:: Kitty remains tense, crouched position with head down hiding in the litter box.
Reaction when softly spoken to:: Kitty remains in place with eyes wide open.
Reaction to cage door opening:: Kitty began to look around, lip licking in place.
Reaction to touch:: Kitty’s ears turned sideways when touched on the head and stiffens up with no interest towards the interaction.
