10/16/2016 PET PROFILE MEMO
10/16/16 09:12 Basic information: Kittington is a 5 year old neutered male. He was given to his previous owner by a friend. He was surrendered because he scratched someone in the home. The last time he went to the vet was 4 years ago. Socialization: Around strangers Kittington is aggressive, he hisses and growls. When he plays with adults he is exuberant. Behavior: Kittington has scratched; the last time he scratched was 10/17/16. He tolerates having his coat brushed for a little while but then runs away. He isn’t bothered if he is picked up, placed in a carrier or disturbed while sleeping. For a New Family to Know: Kittington is described as friendly, affectionate, playful, confident and quiet with a high activity level. When his previous owner was home he would tend to follow her around. He likes to play with balls, string and laser pointers. He was kept indoors only and at night he slept in a cat bed. He ate dry Purina or Friskies. He is litter box trained and used an uncovered litter box and clumping litter. He scratched on a couch made of microfiber and wooden door frames. Behavior during intake: Kittington head butted and allowed me to pet him; he flicked his tail but still allowed me to collar him. He went into his carrier easily but was hesitant to come out. He should turn completely around a few times, step halfway out of his carrier, head butt, and sniff extended and got back inside. He did this 4 times before eventually coming all the way out.

10/23/2016 BEHAVIOR EVALUATION – AVERAGE
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Kittington’s previous owner reports Kittington is aggressive around strangers and will hiss and growl. He is exuberant when playing with adults, however. He tolerates having his coat brushed, but will run away after a little while. He isn’t bothered when picked up, placed in a carrier, or disturbed while sleeping. He was described as friendly, affectionate, playful, confident, and quiet with a high activity level. He tends to follow his previous owner around the home and play with balls, strings, and laser pointers. Reaction to assessor: Kittington approaches the front and was calm, relaxed, and friendly. Reaction when softly spoken to: Kittington meows and rubs his body all over the cage door. Reaction to cage door opening: Kittington greets the assessor by the opening. Reaction to touch: Kittington places his two front paws on the assessor’s chest and rests his body against the assessor while looking around. He accepts petting all over and purrs lightly. Reaction to being picked up: Kittington remains calm and allows handling. Behavior Determination: Average Kittington interacts with the observer, appreciates attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. Although his previous owner reports he is aggressive around strangers, he has been displaying behavior appropriate for cat parents with an average amount of experience during his stay in the care center. We still recommend his future parents to allow him appropriate time to warm up at his own pace as he may need time to warm up to his new home.
