05/05/17 17:22 Basic Information: Kirby is 1 year old spayed female domestic short hair white and brown cat. She was returned to MACC after 1 week because she was not getting alone with the unaltered male in the home. She had no injuries during intake. Socialization: She was friendly around strangers. She played gently with adults. She lived with a 3 years old unaltered male and was very fearful of him. She lunge at the other cat when he got to close to her. She did not play with the other cat. She has no bite history but please see the DOH memo. Behavior: She hides in fear from other cats. She swats if uneutered male gets to close. She was relaxed during car rides. Previous owner did not attempted Bathing and nail trims. She really enjoyed getting her hair brush. She struggled going insde carriers and while being held. She was not bothered by being disturbed while sleeping. For a new family to know: She was described as an independent cat. Her activity level was very high. Behaviro during intake: She tolerated being picked up and help. She allowed the counselor to collar. She had a relaxed body. Her eyes were dilated and ears forward. She was very alert of her surroundings.

ACTIVITY LEVEL: Laid back VOCAL: Quiet CHARACTER TYPE: Calm, Sweet KNOWN HISTORY: Lived Indoors Previously lived with: Behavior toward strangers: friendly Behavior toward children: very fearful Bite or Scratch history: Attempting to stop both cats then got scratched Litter box training: yes MEDICAL BEHAVIOR: Observed Behavior – docile, allows all handling ENRICHMENT NOTES: 4/26/17-Asleep behind litter box on approach, woke when door opened. Came immediately to the front, soft eyes and body. Ate treats from my hand, leaned and arched into pets, purred. 5/8/17-Returned for not getting along with other cat in the home. Clearly not feeling well. Curled up in litter box, sniffling. Meowed once when door opened. Lay in place, leaned slightly into pets, then put head down and closed eyes. 5/9/17-Curled up in litter box, lethargic, bloody nasal discharge. Soft meow when spoken to. Lay in place when door opened, leaned into pets, then curled up and went to sleep. Seems miserable. 5/10/17-No real change. Curled up behind litter box today. Same quiet meow when spoken to. Lay in place when door opened, briefly leaned away, then leaned into pets, lowered head and closed eyes. Feeling a bit better? Stood and came a few steps forward after door closed. 5/11/17-Seems to be feeling better! Much more active today. Lay in place when door opened, soft eyes and body. Leaned into pets, purred. Stood after door closed, started meowing and came to the front. Cheek rubbed cage furnishings and bars. Continued to meow whenever I walked past. EVALUATION: Cage Condition: Cage is neat Reaction to assessor: Kirby immediately comes soliciting at the front of the cage. Reaction to door opening: Kirby remains standing at the front of the cage, relaxed body posture, soliciting attention. Reaction to touch: Kirby head-butts the assessor’s hand and appreciates petting on the head and body. Reaction to being picked up: Allows the pickup and remains calm. BEHAVIOR SUMMARY: Beginner Kirby interacts with the Assessor, solicits attention, is easy to handle and tolerates all petting. This cat can go to a beginner home.
